We approach the supercell thunderstorm from the east. All the structure is there for a classic tornado.

28 May 2001 near Trinidad, Colorado
Drove from Liberal, KS to Raton Mesa hoping for enough heating on the elevated terrain to produce a supercell. We had nearly given up hope when this supercell was found just east of Trinidad at sunset. It produced a funnel that reached 85% down to the ground but we could not see the contact point to confirm if it was in fact a tornado (other chasers reported it down on the ground).
