Gallery - 26 May 2001

We got a late start from home and aimed to reach good lightning storms near Amarillo. There was almost no chance of catching stronger convection farther south so we choose to photo a squall line moving south and east toward Amarillo at sunset. These lightning photos were shot near the town of Claude, TX.

Spider lightning

These photographs were taken with a wide-angle lens and the lightning bolts would crawl like spiders across the underside of the clouds. Some branches would reach over our heads at times.
